إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي أَن يَضْرِبَ مَثَلًا مَّا بَعُوضَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا
“Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example – that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it…” [2: 26]

This is Part 2 of the popular course based on Ibn al-Qayyim’s amazing work, ‘Al-Amthal fil-Qur’an’, where we will unearth some key parables and examples in the Qur’an, discover central themes and messages, imagery and metaphors, as well as the particulars and beauties of language.

We will take a look at further concepts of Iman (e.g. the Tree of Tawhid), and deeds which affect the believer explained via the parables of words. What do Signs have to do with the parable of the dog and falling from the sky? Are we weakened by worship, and who are the seeker and the sought, the caller and the called? What are the many gods in our lives and what is is about garments that reflect our spousal relationships? Delve into this eye-opening science and develop your understanding and contemplation of Qur’an.

Testimonials

“Contemplation is something that is recommended and emphasized. This course takes you on a scenic tour as you explore some of the parables mentioned in the Qur’an. Ibn al-Qayyim decodes some of the parables so as to facilitate a deeper understanding and reflection, and sis Farhia capably guides you on the tour, helping you make the connections and makes the experience and reflections more palpable. If you have ever wondered how to reflect on the signs around you, or what the deeper meanings of the parables are, this course will, in sha Allah, change how you perceive rain, barren land, and even spiders webs!”

_________

“This course really helped to open my eyes to just how vast the study of the Qur’aan can be. The topic is quite a unique one which I have not really come across as being covered elsewhere, and maa shaa Allaah the course provided a fresh perspective to reflecting on the Qur’aan. It definitely left me feeling like we had only covered a tip of the iceberg on the links within the Qur’aan. It also left me with great admiration and inspiration to consider the deep knowledge the great scholars of this Ummah had of the Qur’an, spending such time pondering over the intricacies of the Glorious Book. In shaa Allah I await the next instalment in the series with great anticipation!”
